My current project is a reaction to my own questioning of the way images are produced, disseminated and looked at.
I started an experimental process that highlights the ability of photography to exploit the malleability of reality in order to create new imaginaries. I photograph a social gathering, places, and familiar scenes in various settings. On my light table I randomly superimpose the negative images to form a contemporary palimpsest and I observe as a new meaning emerges from the digital shots. The superimposed figures undergo a trompe l’œil effect that creates a rupture that separates and, at the same time, an echo that connects the different existences.
This documents the abyss and in a parasitic way confounds the documentary dimension of the photo and creates a new spectral reality, opening up vistas into further territories.
